The 2008 Summer Games began Friday morning, June 13 with Youth
Track & Field competition at Winter Haven High School. The
opening race of the day, the girl's 3000 meter run, was
highlighted by 12-year old twin sisters Emily (right in blue)
and Aylwyn Hernandez (left in orange), of the Miami Milers Track
Club, taking first and second place, respectively.
Over 5,000 of Florida's
finest amateur athletes, between the ages of 4 and 88, will
compete in 23 sports during the three days of competition in
Polk County.
