Gerald Brunette,
of Naples, came one pin short of establishing a new men’s singles
Bowling all-time high score, when he rolled a combined three-game
score of 774. His score
did set a record in the 65-69 age group, breaking the previous record
by 45 pins.

The Spikers, of Orlando, won the 50+ age group in
Women's Volleyball defeating The Villages Volleygirls in the championship match.

Long-time
women’s doubles partners, Jan Cline and Dorothy Hann, of Sun City Center, claimed their 11th gold
medal, winning the 70-74 age group.
The duo won five gold medals in 60-64 age group (1996- 2000), three golds
in the 65-69 age group (2001-03) and
have won the last three years in the 70-74 age group.

Cori Downing, of Winter Park, set all time best scores with record-breaking times in the Cycling
5 & 10K Time Trials.
Her time of 7:39.25 in the 5K Time Trials was 19 seconds faster
than the previous all time best set in
1998. Her time of
15:48.43 beat the previous 10K all-time best by 1:11.
Downing, who participated in her first Florida Senior Games State
Championships, was a 2007 Duathlon National Champion in her age group.

Joanne Collier, of Mulberry, won a
tennis bronze medal in Women's Singles and a gold medal in
Women's Doubles.
Robert
Farnsworth, of Punta Gorda, won his third
consecutive horseshoes gold medal in the 75-79 age group.

Joe Johnston, of Apopka, had the best pole
vault of the 2008 Florida Senior Games State Championships with
a mark of 12 feet.

In the 50-54 age group, the Polk Players
(in red) won three
games to win their third consecutive gold medal.
The Polk Players defeated Thirsty's of Houston, Texas,
66-62 in the championship game.
